Paintings by master blues musician, Duke Robillard and Pawcatuck artist Linda Peduzzi on display in The Hoxie Gallery, top floor of the library.
After nearly fifty years of traveling the world making music and playing with many of his heroes, a shoulder injury put a halt to Duke Robillard's musical creativity for over a year. To fulfill the need for creative expression, Duke started painting, finding inspiration in abstract impressionism and a great satisfaction in bringing to life the more visual side of his creativity. What started as a way to fill a void soon became a serious practice. Duke's imaginative and colorful paintings show that his natural talent and curiosity imbues all aspects of his life.
Pawcatuck artist Linda Peduzzi portrays mood and feeling through her paintings of abstract florals, landscapes and colorful pattern. She works primarily in oils and mixed media, using memory and direct observation. Recently retired, she enjoys the luxury of stepping outside into her yard, pausing to watch the motions of birds, insects and plants, before going back to the studio to paint. She also enjoys traveling to paint in new spots or attend art retreats.
